Town Square Park - Corner of State Route 43 and
Tallmadge Rd. 18 2 acres
This 2+ acre park is nestled in
the town center at the corner of State Route 43 and Tallmadge Road.
The park includes the historic Town gazebo which is a reconstructed
gazebo with the roof from the original Town Hall. Benches offer
peaceful respite while reflecting on the gardens throughout the ark.
A memorial to Brimfield’s war veterans is centered in the park.
Additionally, there are horseshoe pits and picnic tables and grills
available for use in a tree setting on the west side of the
property. Plans for 2007 include adding swings for children and an
outdoor stage for summer concerts and movies.
Lions Community Park - Edson Road.
25 acres
Includes ball diamonds, kids play equipment, sand box, hiking trails,
horseshoe pit, picnic and grill area's, covered shelter and open space.
Cranberry Creek, Lynn Rd. 35+

Sledding hill, cross country skiing and
hiking trails
Horner Hills Park 6 acres
Six acres located in the King’s Ridge development, this park is
situated between Gate Post Lane and Edson Road. Mostly wooded, the
park is currently being developed with plans for a walking trail and
benches. The possibility of playground development for residents
with young families will be visited in the future.
Cascades, Cascades
Blvd-Tallmadge Rd 1.62 acres
This 1.62 acre park is at the
South end of the Cascades, a retail shopping, dining and living area
on Tallmadge Road. A concrete stage area surrounded by sloping
abutments, this park will be host to outdoor stage events as well as
being an area for shoppers to stretch and relax during their day

City Wide Parks
Fred
Fuller Park, off Middlebury Road, provides 52 acres, and
includes six picnic areas with shelters and nearby playgrounds, hiking
trails, a fishing area, a volleyball court and four baseball fields. The
Roy H. Smith Shelter House is also located here and available for rent.
Al Lease Park, located
off Silver Meadows Boulevard, provides 31 acres, and includes a
four-acre stocked lake, picnic shelters, a gazebo, soccer and baseball
fields, basketball and volleyball courts and two playground areas.
Franklin
Mills Riveredge Park, located in the center of town, offers a
11/2 mile hiking trail along the riveredge. The park is accessible from
Stow Street on the south, from River Street via a stairway on the west,
and Mail Street via a stairway next to the Bissler Building on the
north. The park is accessible to the handicapped
behind the Portage Paper Box Company on River Street.
John Brown
Tannery Park, offers a gazebo, several fishing beaches, and
miscellaneous benches and tables. A handicapped accessible fishing dock
is available
Brady's Leap Park, is located at the
northern limit of the Riveredge Trail Park, and is accessible from
Gougler Avenue.
Plum
Creek Park, located off Mogadore Road, provides 25 acres, and
includes a baseball diamond, an open recreation area, and interpretive
center, three picnic shelters, fitness games court, playground area, and
a sand volleyball court.
Jessie Smith Wildlife Preserve,
located off Majors Lane, provides 14 acres, including a nature trail
through the park.
KENT NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS:
Artemis Drive Park, located off
Artemis Drive, provides 3.7 acres, and includes a volleyball court,
picnic area, playground and open play field for informal soccer and
baseball games.
Chadwick Park, located off Chadwick
Drive, provides two acres of open space with a volleyball court.
Fishcreek Park, adjacent to Fish
creek, provides seven acres, and includes open play areas, a soccer
field, playground facilities, a picnic shelter, and wooded areas.
Highland Park, located off Chadwick
Drive, provides one acre, and includes picnic tables, a basketball
court, and playground facilities.
Yacavona Park, located off Yacavona
Drive, provides two acres of open space, with a playground area and
picnic facilities.

The Portage Park District
provides many opportunities for recreation, from year-round hiking,
to summer picnicking, cross-country skiing in winter, horse trails
and bicycling. Portage Parks offer varied programs at their
locations and educational programs for schools, scouts and other
groups. In addition to the Parks listed below, the Portage Park
District features several conservation areas available only during
special hikes. Please consult the website for dates and times of
programs.

Nelson-Kennedy
Ledges State Park

The park is located off of State Rte. 282, south of U.S. Rte.422.
Nelson-Kennedy Ledges provides a thrilling experience to visitors with
its rugged cliffs and diverse plant life typical of a more northern
climate. A day-use park, Nelson-Kennedy Ledges is popular for picnicking
and hiking.
